One of the most outstanding Latvian conductors and educators.

Born on 30 March 1922 in Rīga. Studied at the Krišjānis Barons Elementary School and the Rainis Evening Secondary school, graduating in 1941. Initially acquired his musical knowledge from private tutors, then at the Vīgneru Ernests Rīga Institute of Phonology.

Born 23 November 1890 in Tartu, Estonia. Studied violin at Rīga’s Imperial Music School (1904-1909) and the St Petersburg Music School (1910), studied at the St Petersburg Conservatory (1913-1916).

Born on 16 August 1906 at the Opekalns homestead in Jaunlaicene Parish. Studied at Lazdona congregational school and Rīga’s City secondary school No 1 (1920-1924).

Born on 30 May 1908 in Jelgava. Studied at the Škibe, then the Dobele elementary school and secondary school (1923-1926), actively participating in the school orchestra and choir.

Born 28 December 1917 in Rīga. Acquired his first ballet skills at the M. Štāla ballet studio and at the Ballet School of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre (1944–1950).

Born on 17 January 1917 in Petrograd. From 1920, lived in Rīga and studied at Rīga’s Elementary School No 1 and High School No 1 (1930-1933). While at school, mastered a number of instruments, actively participating in the school orchestra and choir.
