Jurģis Cābulis began his professional musical career in 1999 at the Rīga Doms Choir School, after which he obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in choral conducting at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music under conductors Andris Veismanis and Kaspars Ādamsons.

Currently, Cābulis is the artistic director and chief conductor of the Kamēr... youth choir, conductor of the Rīga Doms Choir School mixed choir and head of its Conducting educational programme, as well as conductor of Rīga’s Ave Sol chamber choir.

In 2019, Cābulis and the Rīga Doms Choir School mixed choir recorded AETERNUM, an album of choral music composed by Jēkabs Jančevskis, on the renowned British classical music label Hyperion Records.

He actively performs with choirs in Latvia and around the world, and has won awards and prizes in several international conducting competitions.

For example, in 2014, Cābulis participated in the 5th Jāzeps Vītols international choral conducting competition, where he was awarded 3rd prize. In 2017, he was awarded both the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and the LMT Young Musician of the Year awards, and won the 3rd International Juozas Naujalis choir competition in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 2021, he participated in the prestigious Erik Erikson Choir Competition and reached the semi-finals, as well as winning the Latvian Grand Music Award in the Concert of the Year category for AMAO OMI (Bezjēdzīgais karš/Senseless War).
