Dace Adviljone

Teacher, choreographer, dance group leader

Dace Adviljone received her higher education in choreography at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. She studied with Latvian choreographer and ballet dancer Aija Baumane, and danced in the Rotaļa (Dancing game) dance group under her direction.

Since 1989, Adviljone has been teacher and choreographer for the Zelta sietiņš (Golden Pleiades) folk-dance ensemble, and since 2010, has been the chief choreographer for the Limbaži, Aloja and Salacgrīva districts’ children’s dance groups. Since 2011, she has been artistic director of the middle generation dance group Mana rotaļa (My Dancing game).

She has choreographed some 50 dances, including prize-winners in the Mēs un deja (Dance and Us) innovative dance competition. During Latvia’s centenary celebrations, the Abas malas (Both River Banks) dance performance choreographed by Adviljone received high recognition and an award.

Since 2017, she has been the chief choreographer for the Rīga municipality’s dance groups, and since 2018, a member of the Dance Expert Advisory Board at the National Centre for Education.
